When the third molars emerge from the gum line, the jaw often does not have enough room for them. This can cause them to become impacted between the jawbone and gum tissue. When this occurs, symptoms can include swelling and pain surrounding the wisdom teeth. Patients in their late teenage years and early 20s often seek the team at Rose Hill General & Cosmetic Dentistry for relief. When a tooth extraction is necessary, highly skilled and respected dentists Drs. Mark Troilo and Jessica Niederee and our compassionate dental team can ensure we do all we can to make the procedure as comfortable and pain-free as possible. We can provide local anesthetic as well as other sedatives that can ease anxiety and prevent pain.

After wisdom teeth emerge, they may cause other teeth to shift. Therefore, we often recommend removing them. We can extract wisdom teeth before or after they emerge from the gum line. Patients can rest assured they are in gentle hands with our team. We can provide sedation dentistry to ease the nerves. We offer nitrous oxide and IV sedation. For nitrous oxide, we will gently place a comfortable mask over the nose. The moderate form of sedation is known as "laughing gas." Patients can drive home after the appointment because the effects of the sedative wear off quickly.

Patients may opt to have medicine administered into veins using IVs. This moderate form of sedation takes effect quickly. Patients may be so relaxed that they fall asleep, but they can be awakened easily after the procedure. They generally do not remember the procedure. We recommend coordinating transportation to and from the appointment and plenty of rest after arriving home. We will provide proper aftercare instructions to ensure the utmost comfort after the procedure.

Our dental team has been treating patients for more than 36 years. You can count on a highly skilled team that listens to concerns and promptly addresses needs. Have you experienced any symptoms of impacted teeth? An extraction may be the ideal solution. To learn more about the procedure, call our friendly team at or mark@rosehilldental.com.
