The Procedure

With age, our skin succumbs to the effects of gravity, our cheeks lose volume, and our jaw loses its soft youthful contour. Dermal fillers can help counter the effects of aging by filling in lines and creases in the face.  Dr. Nathan of Suria Plastic Surgery in Plantation expertly uses fillers to plump thin lips, raise shallow contours, diminish dark eye circles, erase wrinkles and improve the appearance of recessed scars. Unlike Botox and Dysport, dermal fillers do not affect  facial expression.

Dermal fillers are administered through a few small injections into the dermis. Then the face is gently massaged to ensure it spreads and fills the desired treatment area. Typically, these fillers require minimal downtime. Results are immediate, and can last between 3 to 24 months depending on the filler (specific filler longevity below).

There is a wide variety of fillers on the market now, and it takes an expert in facial aesthetics like Dr. Nathan to choose the filler that is right for you.  At your consultation Dr. Nathan will evaluate your face and will come up with a personalized cosmetic treatment plan.

Juvederm®

Juvederm® is the most popular hyaluronic acid based filler.  It can be used on most areas of the face. The most common uses of the products are for the treatment of the creases that run along the corners of the mouth (nasolabial fold).   

Young and radiant skin contains an abundance of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally hydrating substance. Throughout the aging process, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. This reduction in HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds (like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth).

Using a dermal filler like JUVEDERM XC is a safe and effective way to replace the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.

Belotero®

Belotero® is an injectable filler that helps smooth moderate-to-severe etched-in lines and wrinkles located above and around the lip. Radiesse®

Radiesse® is a dermal filler used in the correction of facial lines and wrinkles.  Studies show that Radiesse provides effective correction of vertical lines and wrinkles, around the nose and mouth.  Unlike other fillers composed of hyaluronic acid, Radiesse is made of unique calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel.  The calcium in Radiesse is shown to stimulate the growth of natural collagen and rebuild the skin’s foundation.  Radiesse can help restore volume in the face, by diminishing lines around the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, lower cheeks/hollow cheeks, the jawline, chin fold, temple, bridge of the nose and even the back of the hands.

Sculptra®

Sculptra® is a dermal filler that consists of biocompatible, biodegradable Poly-L-Lactic-Acid. Poly-L-Lactic-Acid is proven to stimulate the production of new and long-lasting collagen on your face.  As Sculptra is absorbed by the skin, it gradually works over the course of 9-12 weeks to produce new collagen.  Your colleagues, friends and family will notice your deep wrinkles vanishing and your face slowly lifting, but they will never guess why!
