Rhinoplasty
Approximate duration of surgery: 2-3 hours General Anesthesia or Local Anesthesia
The Procedure
The nose is a focal point on a face. Its anatomical location has the power to influence aesthetics on the entire face. A rhinoplasty procedure aims to change the shape of a nose, and bring proportional harmony to the face. Aside from aesthetics, another reason for a rhinoplasty is airway obstruction. A rhinoplasty and septoplasty can be performed together in order to relieve nasal airway obstruction. Techniques and approaches for a rhinoplasty vary depending on patient need, nose shape and desired outcome. There are two main types of incisions used, open and closed. An open rhinoplasty requires a small, discreet incision just underneath the nose. While a closed rhinoplasty hides the incision inside the nostrils.
The best approach for an individual patient will be determined by Dr. Nathan during the initial consultation.
